EU Parliament wants shipping included in climate agreement

The European Parliament has submitted its stance ahead of COP21: Shipping must contribute by reducing CO2 emissions by 40 percent ahead of 2030 in order to avoid a global temperature increase of more than 2 degrees.

The shipping and aviation sectors must be included in the coming CO2 regulations set out at the coming COP21 climate negotiations in Paris, and which will later be made concrete through the various UN bodies, including the IMO.
