Shipowners reflag vessels back to Norwegian Register

A new regulation passed at the beginning of this year is pulling Norwegian shipowners back home under the Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS). This could realistically mean 50 new ships in the Norwegian fleet, projects the Director General of Shipping and Navigation, Olav Akselsen.

There is a huge influx of vessels into the Norwegian International Ship Register (NIS). The development is so remarkable that Director General of Shipping and Navigation in Norway, Olav Akselsen, assesses that up to 50 ships could be transferred to the Norwegian flag.
