Greek and Chinese owners behind 40 pct of scrapping in 2015

Greek and Chinese shipowners are leading in the wave of scrapping which in 2014 and 2015 has clocked in significantly above the average level of recent times, according to new figures from Clarksons, reports Hellenic Shipping News.

Greek and Chinese shipowners are the ones to have cut back the most on tonnage over the course of 2015.

The two shipowning nations scrapped a combined 9.6 million tons of gross tonnage last year, and thus take first and second place in the ranking of countries which have scrapped the most.
