Brexit could throw British shipping completely off course

A British "yes" to exit the EU will hit the UK's shipping industry hard, agree maritime industry leaders. Renegotiation of trade and currencies could be costly, according to Reuters.

Trade with the EU is crucial for the UK shipping sector, which employs upwards of 240,000 people and each year contributes GBP 10 billion pounds to the country's economy. Close to 40 percent of all shipping which passes through the country's ports comes from trade with the EU.
