Pirates kidnap six seafarers off the coast of Nigeria

Six Turkish crew members have been kidnapped by pirates from a tanker off the coast of Nigeria, informs the Nigerian fleet according to Reuters. The kidnapping is just the latest development in the escalating threat of piracy plaguing West Africa.

Pirates have kidnapped six Turkish crew members from tanker vessel M/T Puli off the coast of Nigeria, informs the Nigerian navy according to Reuters.

"Six crew members were abducted. They included the captain, the chief officer and chief engineer. They were all Turkish," said Chris Ezekobe, the spokesman for Nigeria's fleet, according to the news media.
