Norden CEO: Fewer ships not enough to solve bulk crisis

Fewer vessels need to be on the water if the dry bulk industry is to recover. But the problems are not only due to overcapacity, Norden CEO Jan Rindbo tells ShippingWatch.

It would be beneficial to the dry bulk market if there were fewer vessels on the water. But this will not solve everything. Global trade also has to keep up before the carriers see brighter days, says Norden CEO Jan Rindbo.

The Danish carrier published a first quarter interim report for 2016 on Wednesday in which the dry bulk division noted a loss of USD 20 million while the combined result finished at a deficit of USD 5 million.
