Thome exec takes the reins of Indian shipping group

A former Thome executive has taken over as Group CEO of Indian shipping group Elektrans. The ambition is clear. One of the long-term goals is an IPO in New York.

SINGAPORE

Ever since Michael Elwert was seven years old, he knew that he wanted to be a captain. Since then, this dream has taken him all over the maritime sector from the Danish Shipowners' Association to the Indian Ocean. And now India has once again become pivotal for his new job as Group CEO of Indian shipping company Elektrans.
