Only the greatest talents rise to the top of shipping

Who will take over when the leaders of the shipping industry step down? Companies will find the answer among their own talent, who are being trained hard with huge expectations while others sometimes get left behind, says a human resource management expert from Copenhagen Business School.

They are purposeful, sympathetic, and they deliver top results every time. Shipping industry players are hand-picking their brightest young talent and nurturing them in the hope that they will become future leaders.

The advantage of talent cultivation is that the company is able to attract top talent and encode them to the organization's culture, explains Frans Bevort, a researcher in Human Resource Management at Copenhagen Business School (CBS).
