"There is a global recovery underway"

"All the signals around us indicate that there is a global recovery underway," says DFDS' CEO Niels Smedegaard to ShippingWatch after a new record quarter for the shipping and logistics company.

The overall macroeconomic picture in Europe looks reasonable, and there is a prospect of a few good years with increasing demand and world trade, freight and thereby improved business conditions.

This is the take from DFDS' CEO Niels Smedegaard immediately after the Danish shipping and logistics company released its figures for the first quarter, which showed a new record start to the year.

3i buys AMP out of Esvagt

Private equity firm 3i, which owns half of carrier Esvagt, has agreed with the company's second owner, AMP Capital, to take over all of Esvagt for GBP 268 million, making 3i the sole owner. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
