MSC and Lufthansa rejected as buyers of Italian state airline ITA

The Italian government, surprisingly, has chosen to pursue negotiations with a US private equity firm on a partial privatization of state aviation company ITA, sidelining the alliance that is MSC and Lufthansa.

The world’s largest container shipping company, Swiss-Italian MSC; and German airline Lufthansa won’t be taking over a majority stake in Italian state aviation company ITA, as announced by Italy’s finance ministry on Wednesday.
