Ikea denounces LNG as the fuel to decarbonize shipping

While an increasing number of carriers opt to include LNG vessels in their fleets, one of the world's largest shippers, Ikea, makes it clear that the liquefied natural gas is not the way to go for shipping companies to decarbonize.

Swedish warehousing major Ikea is not fazed by the many orders for LNG-powered vessels placed by both shipping companies and tonnage owners in recent months.

Liquefied natural gas is not the way to go for the shipping industry if it plans to achieve its announced CO2 reduction targets, says Global Sustainability Manager Elisabeth Munck af Rosenschöld at Ikea Transport & Logistics Services in a comment to ShippingWatch.
