Trade union reprimands shipping industry for lack of seafarer rights

Friday marks the international Day of the Seafarer with tributes and declarations of respect pouring in from near and far for seafarers aboard ships worldwide.

But these words ring hollow when thousands of seafarers are trapped on ships due to Covid-19 restrictions long after their contracts have expired, while many of them still have difficulty accessing vaccines, writes trade union ITF, International Transport Workers' Federation.
