Asian companies hesitant to support global climate initiatives within shipping

The membership circle behind climate initiative Sea Cargo Charter confirms a clear tendency within shipping: Asian companies are difficult to get to join green transformation collaborations. Sea Cargo Charter’s vice chair hopes an Asian breakthrough will be seen in the coming years.

Climate initiative Sea Cargo Charter – which gathers shipowners, shippers and shipping pools on reducing shipping’s carbon emissions – is only two years old, but the collaboration already notices a tendency also seen in other international partnerships:

Relatively few companies from the important markets in Asia have chosen to participate in Sea Cargo Charter.
