Chinese container merger is a Christmas bonus for 2M
Three out of four alliances are up in the air after two mergers this week in the container industry. This makes 2M with Maersk and MSC the only alliance where shippers know what they will get, and 2M will utilize this in the annual contract negotiations, according to Seaintelligence Consulting.

A new round of reshuffling has begun among the members of the major container alliances. With the approval from the Chinese authorities for a merger between Cosco and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) - the world's sixth and seventh largest container carriers respectively when measured in capacity - the question is now which alliance the two carriers will be united within.
