Bunker suppliers to pay for carriers' scrubbers

Several bunker suppliers and traders are offering an untraditional service of financing scrubbers for shipowners if they return the favor by doing business with them. An exciting development, Bimco analyst Peter Sand tells ShippingWatch.

Global sulfur regulations have now prompted bunker suppliers and traders to enter new territory.

At their offices, carriers are not only offered various types of fuels. Some suppliers and traders are now offering to finance scrubbers for the carriers if they return the favor by purchasing bunker from them, sources tell ShippingWatch.

3i buys AMP out of Esvagt

Private equity firm 3i, which owns half of carrier Esvagt, has agreed with the company's second owner, AMP Capital, to take over all of Esvagt for GBP 268 million, making 3i the sole owner. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
