Shipowners buy into Wärtsilä's environmental solutions

Wärtsilä's orders grew 14 percent in Q2, where shipowners' demand for solutions to environmental legislation rose.  Recently, the supplier landed a large order for MSC.

After years of waiting, carriers have finally begun ordering equipment in order to meet the many upcoming environmental regulations. Earlier this week, Alfa Laval reported an increase in environmental orders from the industry, and now the Finnish competitor Wärtsilä has followed suit.

In general, Wärtsilä's orders grew 14 percent in the second quarter of 2018 to EUR 1.6 billion (USD 1.8 billion), and the marine division developed well, says CEO Jaakko Eskola in the half year financial report, Thursday morning.
