ABB and Keppel want autonomous vessel operational by 2020

Supplier ABB will collaborate with shipbuilder Keppel Offshore & Marine to launch an autonomous ship in Singapore by the end of next year.

Swiss technology supplier ABB will work with Singapore-based shipbuilding firm Keppel Offshore & Marine to test and launch an autonomous ship expected to hit the water toward the end of 2020.

More specifically, ABB and the shipbuilder's tech division Keppel Marine & Deepwater Technology are to develop the technology for autonomous sailing and install it on a 32-meter tug boat, which will enter operation in the Port of Singapore.
