Svitzer and parent company Maersk have joined forces to design a fuel cell tugboat running on green methanol.
The two companies have struck a deal with naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd. to develop the vessel, which constitutes a part of Maersk's ambition to develop methanol fuel cells, automation, electricity as propulsion and other technologies that can contribute to lowering carbon emissions from ships, writes Svitzer in the announcement.
