Norwegian-Canadian partnership to provide shipping with green solutions

A partnership between Canadian Shift Clean Energy and Norwegian Stadt sets out to supply the global shipping industry with environmentally friendly propulsion and energy storage solutions.

Vancouver-based Shift Clean Energy and Norwegian Stadt have joined forces to deliver propulsion and energy storage solutions for the maritime industry, thus providing the industry with sustainable options.

Shift Clean Energy supplies the maritime sector with battery systems. Their lithium-ion battery is used both in hybrid and fully electric propulsion for ”marine, offshore and inland waterway applications,” according to a press release.

Norwegian Stadt delivers ”efficient, reliant and noise-free propulsion systems designed for the lifetime of the vessel” and has its technology applied on more than 150 vessels ”in their global operations,” reads the statement.

”Partnerships like these are essential for the decarbonization of the marine transport industry. We are proud to announce our new Norway-based partner Stadt, as a leading vendor and system integrator of electric propulsion, this partnership will offer our customers reduced operations costs with a high focus on safety and security. It will also support the industry’s vital transition to zero-emissions,” says Shift CEO Brent Perry.
