IMO delays on ballast water weighs down Desmi

The lack of ratification of the ballast water convention is affecting Desmi, and the company is now slowing down its product development. After a record revenue in 2013 the company still has high expectations for the marine business.

While pump manufacturer Desmi notes a general improvement in the marine business, the company has faced the fact that one of its major ventures has yet to take off.

Namely the two ballast water cleaning systems that one of Desmi's subsidiaries - Desmi Ocean Guard - has developed following expectations that the IMO's ballast water convention would have come into effect a long time ago, says CEO Henrik Sørensen following publication of the company's annual report.
