European yards secured 17 pct more orders in 2014

European shipyards saw significant growth in 2014, where the yards secured 17 percent more orders than in 2013.

European shipyards achieved double-digit growth in 2014, a development that leads to increased hope of more growth at the yards in coming years.

A new study from Clarkson Research published in Danish Maritime's newsletter on Friday shows that the European orderbook for 2014 came to 350 ships for a total 6.7 million cubic tons, worth USD 36.6 billion - up 17 percent from 2013 in terms of ship value.
