Global steel consumption will decline in 2015, notes the World Steel Association in a new report that presents projections for 2015 and 2016, according to a press release.
For 2015, the association estimates that steel consumption will decrease 1.7 percent this year to 1,513 Megatons (Mt). This development should be seen in light of the fact that steel consumption in 2014 grew 0.7 percent, and is expected to grow 0.7 percent next year as well, to a combined 1,523 Mt (see graph below).
