Finland to give final push to ballast water convention

Within three weeks Finland looks set to ratify the ballast water convention, one government source confirms to ShippingWatch. The Finnish ratification could be enough to push the ballast water convention entering into force one year later.

After years of maybes and what ifs, the ballast water convention now looks set to come into force in 2017.

The Finnish parliament and the country's president have approved ratification of the ballast water convention, and according to the current plans, Finland will soon ratify the convention.
