Robert Uggla calls for moderation in Maersk boom: "Container shipping is a cyclical industry"

The CEO of APM Holding, Robert Mærsk Uggla, says in an interview with Børsen that, in the midst of the Maersk boom, one should not forget that the shipping line operates in a cyclical industry, and that the logistics ambition is far from realized yet.

The chairman of APM Holding, Robert Mærsk Uggla, is pleased with the boom experienced by Maersk in recent months, but in an interview Børsen he also notes that the container line operates in an industry that is sensitive to fluctuations in the economy.

"Well, I'm also pleased that things are going better for A.P. Moeller-Maersk, and that they are working on many important initiatives, not least the digital elements. But one should not forget that container shipping is a cyclical industry, and that Maersk is far from done with its work to build up a strong logistics business. The company is still in an early stage. The mood of analysts and the media tends to fluctuate more or less in tune with freight rates. We take a more long-term view," Uggla tells Børsen.
