MSC has overtaken Maersk as the world's largest container carrier

MSC has just surpassed Maersk as the world's largest container carrier, according to Alphaliner. Only 1,800 teu separate the two shipping companies. Size is not an objective, says MSC's top executive to ShippingWatch.

MSC has taken over the role of the world's largest container carrier from Maersk.

For a long period of time, MSC has been right on the heels of Maersk until the beginning of December 2021 when only a single container vessel separated the two shipping companies.
