Southern Europe objects to EU sulfur proposal

28 days left to sulfur regulations: The EU member states did not reach a vote on the EU Commission's sulfur control proposal following objections from Mediterranean member states. The matter is expected settled before Christmas.

The Mediterranean member states did not agree with the EU Commission's proposal for member states' control measures concerning the coming sulfur regulations introducing a 0.1 percent sulfur limit for emissions from ships sailing in northern Europe and in SECA zones.
