MAN: Shipowners want to turn up the gas

The low gas prices and future environmental demands are felt by MAN Diesel and Turbo. Shipping companies’ interest in LNG motors is increasing and in the long term, it will increase even further, says Ole Grøne, Senior Vice President Low-Speed Promotion & Sales, to ShippingWatch.

For many years, LNG has been on the agenda in shipping circles, but on the subject of the cleaner form of fuel not much has come of it for most shipowners. However, the situation is changing, says Ole Grøne, Senior Vice President Low-Speed Promotion & Sales of MAN Diesel & Turbo.

The company has had the more environmentally friendly motors ready for more than 20 years and during the last four years, MAN Diesel has been marketing the products more systematically. But not until now has the interest gotten serious:
