Major oil deal suffers new setback

A trial in the US is the latest obstacle hitting the takeover by oil service company Halliburton of rival Baker Hughes.

The merger of the world's second and third largest service suppliers in the oil sector does not look set to go smoothly through the European Union or the United States.

Halliburton's 2014 acquisition of Baker Hughes for USD 26 billion recently became subject to investigation in the EU, as Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager announced that she would be reviewing the major transaction.
