Port of Hamburg: Expansion for mega-vessels will happen this year

For about 12 years, the Port of Hamburg has waited on approval for an expansion of the Elbe River. Now a decision is expected in the fall and this is absolutely necessary if the port is to grow.

The Port of Hamburg's patience has been severely tested. Not just in recent years, as the port has waited around 12 years to secure approval for an expansion of the Elbe River so that the ultra-large container ships can sail past each other while passing in and out of the port.
