FMC launches new unit for enforcement of US shipping law

The Federal Maritime Commission has appointed a new unit with the task of investigating and prosecuting those violating the country’s shipping legislation.

US authority the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) is dialing up its investigative and prosecution functions in order to enforce the country’s Shipping Act.

The FMC has established a new unit by the name Bureau of Enforcement, Investigations, and Compliance (BEIC), effective immediately, according to a statement issued Monday.
