Dane named as new head of shipping NGO

Helle Gleie with a broad background in shipping will become the first real director and head of global environmental organization Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI).

Helle Gleie has been named as the new director and head of the environmental organization Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI) from September 2013.

This marks the first time the London-based but global NGO names a director for the coalition of carriers, shippers, companies and affiliated organizations such as Maersk Line, Rio Tinto, Unilever, and the World Wildlife Federation (WWF) working to make shipping more energy efficient and environmental.
