EU imposes temporary tariffs on Chinese electric cars

The provisional tariff on electric cars from China will apply from July 5, 2024 for a maximum period of four months.

China has provided ”unreasonable” state support for electric cars to the extent that it threatens European electric car manufacturers, the EU Commission has concluded.

Therefore, on Thursday, the European Commission has imposed a provisional duty on Chinese electric cars. The provisional duty will apply from July 5, 2024 for a maximum period of four months.

The tariff will be different for each Chinese manufacturer of electric cars, but has a maximum limit of 37.6%, a European Commission press release states.
