Alfa Laval wins ballast water order for 33 ships

A "major Asian shipowner" has picked Alfa Laval to supply ballast water treatment systems for 33 vessels, even before the IMO's ballast water convention has been ratified. The order is worth around USD 8.3 million.

The efforts to ratify the IMO's ballast water convention are still falling short, but Alfa Laval is nevertheless noting a burgeoning demand for retrofit systems that can remove unwanted particles from vessels' ballast water, informs Alfa Laval in a press release.
