Media: Asian employees in the North Sea making USD 3.7 an hour

Dutch company Heerema is accused of paying Asian employees as little as NOK 29 per day for working on a crane vessel that will be deployed on the Johan Sverdrup field next year, reports Upstream according to Norwegian media.

Asian employees of company Heerema Marine Contractors are allegedly paid much less than the wage standards that apply to the Norwegian and UK offshore sectors, reports media Upstream according to several Norwegian news outlets, including VG.

According to Jake Molloy, representative for union RMT in Aberdeen, Scotland, some of the employees on the company's vessels are making "as little as USD 45 per day."
