Oslo-headquartered offshore wind service operator Havfram has secured fresh capital of USD 250m, also confirming that the company’s first vessel for wind turbine installation at sea is under construction.

The vessel will be built by CIMC-Raffles in Yantai, China, and is slated for delivery in the third quarter 2025. It will be equipped with a 3,250-tonnes crane for installation of wind turbines with rotors exceeding tip heights of 300 meters. Havfram has an option for an additional ship.

”With this world-class equipment and one of the most experienced teams in the industry, we are certain that we will be able to provide a first-class service to project owners, turbine suppliers and construction partners globally,” states Even Larsen, CEO of Havfram’s offshore wind construction business.

The USD 250m in equity funding comes from main sponsor Sandbrook Capital and Canadian PSP Investments, according to a company statement.

This capital is added to the USD 250m secured in early November, when Havfram announced plans to divide the company into a subsea and an offshore wind division. Net capital has thus been doubled, totaling USD 500m.

”The doubling of our equity funding only a month after Sandbrook’s initial investment in Havfram is a testament to the fact that rapid progress can in fact be made when we bring together the right engineering and operational capabilities and specialized investors of scale,” states Havfram CEO Ingrid Due-Gundersen in the announcement.

In a November interview with ShippingWatch, Due-Gundersen relayed that Havfram’s ambition is to own two to five vessels.
