Cyan Renewables has signed a contract with Ulstein Design & Solutions regarding designs of several ships capable of installing offshore wind turbine foundations, a press release states.

Netherlands-based Ulstein specializes in design and development of offshore vessels for the energy market. The company will thus be in charge of newbuild design.

The ordered ships will thusly be equipped with dual-fuel engines with green methanol compatibility.

Last year, Cyan Renewables proclaimed that it would invest up towards USD 1bn in vessels to service and install offshore wind turbines.

Lars Christian Zøhner, the CEO of Cyan’s European division, said in September 2022 that the plan is to expand into Asia.

”The offshore wind market in Europe is clearly the biggest, and the foundation for the whole of Cyan is to build here first and then expand from there into Asia, which is definitely one of our biggest focal areas to follow,” Zøhner told ShippingWatch at the time.

The company has offices in Singapore and Esbjerg.
