600 new layoffs in Norwegian oil industry

For the fourth time in just a few weeks, a company has opted to perform major layoffs among its Norwegian employees. The company this time is German Bilfinger's Norwegian subsidiary.

The job boom in the Norwegian oil industry has turned into something reminiscent of a layoff competition.

In recent weeks, companies such as Transocean, North Atlantic Drilling and Aibel have announced a total of 585 layoffs, and now the oil engineers at Bilfinger Industries are turning up the heat with 600 layoffs in Norway.
