Statoil hits new gas pocket in Norwegian Sea

With five successful exploration drillings near the Aasta Hansteen field in Norway, Statoil is ready to begin the operation of the license in 2017. A new discovery has increased the commercial potential by approximately 15 percent.

Norwegian Statoil Petroleum has just hit the fifth consecutive jackpot in the test drilling of license PL218 in the Northern part of the Norwegian Sea, according to the Petroleum Safety Authority (Petroliumtilsynet) in Norway.
