Det Norske Oljeselskap impairs acquisition by USD 192 million

One of the partners in the major Johan Sverdrup oil field, Det Norske Oljeselskap, was forced to impair USD 192 million on the acquisition of Marathon Oil, which took place as recently as in 2014, according to the fourth quarter interim report 2015.

Det Norske Oljeselskap noted a large impairment in the fourth quarter 2015 on one of its most recent acquisitions. In just one year, the purchase of Marathon Oil Norge AS back in 2014 has turned out to be a weak business move and has already cost Det Norske Oljeselskap almost USD 200 million, according to the interim report released Wednesday.
