Media: Maersk Drilling faces billion-dollar impairments

With the prospect of nine out of Maersk Drilling's 24 drilling rigs an ships becoming unemployed by September, the company could be forced to impair the fleet by just under two billion US dollars, writes a Danish newspaper.

In September alone, contracts will expire for three of Maersk Drilling's 24 units. This will bring the total number of unemployed rigs to 9, and with little prospect of new work, the Maersk conglomerate's drilling company may be forced to make impairments of up to USD 1.9 billion, reports Danish newspaper Børsen:
