ExxonMobil is being probed by authorities

US authorities will now investigate why assets at the country's largest oil company, ExxonMobil, are apparently the only ones in the industry not to decrease in value, as well as how the company accounts for the impact of climate change.

Oil companies around the globe have impaired values by billions of dollars on their oil and gas fields in the past two years. But not ExxonMobil.

However, since the US oil company has not found a cure for the period's oil price plunge, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has now launched an investigation into the actual value of ExxonMobil's assets, report both the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.
