Sinking platform could shut down seven Danish oil and gas fields

If Maersk Oil's announced shutdown of the Tyra field is pushed through, it would take another seven fields down with it, according to analysts Wood Mackenzie. This could lead to a complete overhaul of Denmark's oil and gas production.

Maersk Oil has announced that the company will close the Tyra field and its sinking platforms in 2018 unless better framework conditions are introduced. As EnergiWatch has previously described, a large portion of the fields in the Danish part of the North Sea are directly or indirectly dependent on the infrastructure built around the Tyra field. An analyst from Wood Mackenzie now names the fields that a closure of Tyra would impact.
