Statoil cuts a rig in the Troll field

Norwegian authorities have given Statoil permission to trim the number of rigs on the Troll field from four to three. The contract for rig Stena Don will not be renewed, reports Norwegian media Offshore.no.

Statoil has been granted permission from authorities to cut one rig on the Troll field.

The Norwegian oil company had otherwise committed itself to using four rigs for operations on the field in the North Sea as long as this made financial sense. But Statoil has now been given permission to trim down from four to three rigs.
