Major oil companies have lost interest in Norway

Statoil will be the operator or partner in approximately 70 percent of exploration wells on the Norwegian North Sea shelf in 2017, and in some instances the Norwegian oil company is struggling to find partners, report Norwegian media.

The Norwegian North Sea shelf is no longer that attractive for several of the major oil companies. According to Norwegian professor in oil economy, Klaus Mohn, part of the explanation for the dwindling interest could be the Norwegian framework conditions, mature oil fields and developments on the Norwegian shelf, write Stavanger Aftenblad and Dagens Næringsliv.
