Norway to accelerate oil drillings in the Barents Sea

Norway's minister for petroleum and energy wants to facilitate new drillings in the Barents Sea as soon as possible to make sure that Norway does not lag behind in the Arctic race against Russia.

The Norwegian government wants political clarification as soon as possible about whether or not to facilitate oil drillings further North. Unlike Norway, Russia has already allowed exploration drillings in the Northern part of the Barents Sea and this puts Norway at risk of being left behind Russia makes a discovery soon, reports Norwegian media Sysla, citing Norway's Stavanger Aftenblad.
