Politicians want dockworkers in LA and Long Beach moved up in vaccination queue

Employees at the US' two biggest - and currently extremely busy - ports should be moved forward in the vaccination programs, so that the ports are not at risk of shutting down, say several politicians in the US.

Several members of the US Congress call on authorities in California to expedite vaccines against Covid-19 for dockworkers in the major ports Los Angeles and Long Beach, reports Reuters.

Those are the two biggest ports in the US, and they are currently severely congested due to the red-hot container market. Right now there are 27 ships anchored off the port, while cargo is piling up in the terminal.
