Barbara Melvin will be the next chief executive officer of South Carolina Ports effective next summer, when the port's current CEO, Jim Newsome, retires after a 13-year tenure.

South Carolina Ports is among the ten largest ports in the US, and Barbara Melvin, the current COO of the port, has served at the company since 1998.
