Report: Some of the world's top ports could be unusable by 2050

If global sea levels continue to rise at the current rate, it could put ports in Shanghai, Houston and elsewhere out of business, according to a report from Lloyd’s Register.

In less than 30 years, shipping containers in and out of hundreds of ports exposed to rising sea levels could be a thing of the past if nothing is done in time to prevent climate change, reports Reuters citing the Global Maritime Trends 2050 report commissioned by Lloyd’s Register and authored by think tank Economist Impact.
