South African ports fail to gain from diverted Red Sea traffic
The current trend with carriers sailing south of Africa to avoid attacks in the Red Sea offers major opportunities for African ports. But many of these are too inefficient to fully capitalize.

Africa’s inefficient and aging ports are hampering the continent’s chances of capitalizing on a surge in ship traffic that’s avoiding attacks by Houthi rebels through the Red Sea, logistics experts said.
