Increasing activity in US container ports

4 out of 5 of the Top 20 ports in the US had a higher container throughput in 2013. Long Beach in California is especially booming and is now significantly closer to Los Angeles, according to data from Zepol.

The positive reports on US growth are now confirmed by new numbers from American analyst agency Zepol. In a survey of container throughput in the 20 biggest US ports, only four of the ports experienced a lower throughput last year. These are Los Angeles (-3.1 percent), Seattle (-24.6 percent), Wilmington (-4.4 percent), and Gulfport with -3.1 percent.

Los Angeles is still the US port that handles the biggest number of containers, with 3,969,742 teu.
